Okay; turns out it wasn't a blizzard after all.

Might have been blizzard conditions here and there, or indeed just about everywhere, but weather science can be narcissistic, so if the conditions required to make the storm a proper blizzard did not occur at or over a weather station, it's like it didn't occur at all.

In case, you know, that hadn't occurred to you.

For me, it was a blizzard, by technical description or otherwise. That's my story and I'm stickin' with it.

Did it have a name?

Of course it didn't; that's just a silly thinking from the Weather Channel (or Whether Channel), where the hype value of an almost blizzard is seen not to have much.

Today it's raining.

Go figure, but not too much, would-be meteorologists out there. Over-thinking is characteristic of the trade - not a profession; sorry - and while it may lead to exciting reporting, it doesn't pass muster among those who know the science.

A Fat Tuesday on tap tomorrow - not sure what the weather folks require in order to acknowledge its fatness - and then, as the rodent foretold, winter will be just about over.

Or not . . .

As we shall see.
