As we all know, and I dare say appreciate, it is wrong to kill a bird that is a symbol of our nation.

It is, as it properly should be, a felony and punishable as such.

Unless, of course, you do so while operating a wind turbine - or better yet, many of them - to catch whatever moving air there may be and to convert it into electricity, which you will then sell to someone who thinks that's where electricity should come from, and not from the use of all that icky coal and oil buried in the ground.

Interior Looks to Expand Permits for Killing Bald Eagles to Accommodate Wind Energy

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, a division of the Interior Department, is considering loosening regulations on the killing of bald eagles, the national bird of the United States, to accommodate the development of wind energy sources.

A draft regulation first filed in April would allow businesses to apply for 30-year permits allowing them to kill bald eagles in the course of other legal activities. The length of those permits would be a six-fold increase over the five-year window allowed under current law.

It's not only okay, broken eggs in the service of omelet-making, saving the environment by killing part of it, that sort of thing . . .

It's to be preferred by right-thinking people everywhere.

Yeah, that should fly.

Note that this magnificent bird is keeping an eagle eye out, looking Left, for the danger to come from that quadrant of its world.

Smart bird.
