I usually try to keep my head down, my ear to the ground, nose to the wheel, or some such, a decidedly awkward posture, when it comes to what happens on this site, how the content choices are made - whim plays an important role, as you may have suspected - and to say, ambiguously if I say anything at all, that . . .
It is what it is.
But here's the thing.
On a typical day, I average something like 6 posts. On some days, a good deal more - see Monday's output, for example, with its 9 posts - and on some days less, as is the case today (particularly if you do not count this post, which you should not for my purposes here) with just 4 posts.
I try to avoid mixing the frivolous with the important, the profane with the sacred, because I find the juxtapositions startling, and if startling to me, quite possibly the same, or worse, for you.
Today I've written about serious matters, avoided one of my frequent, sardonic dips into the world of climatology, for example, or mucking about in the dreary world of modern politics, one which has no boundaries anymore and therefore offers up a target-rich environment. The posts lead themselves, if you will, and so I will - notice and let them do it, that is - if only to take a bit of the pressure off me to come up with new material a half a dozen times a day.
So, I'll write no more today.
The issues involved in citizens prudently (in my view) deciding that their individual and collective defense against the over-reaching of statists in their midst requires the taking up, keeping and bearing of arms are serious and oft-times complex, and the writing I've done about them would be ill-served by anything oddball or otherwise off-point in any added postings here today.
In case, you know, you wondered.
That is all.
Consider yourselves . . .
Dismissed.
